Wishing A Happy Chinese New Year
Gong Xi Fa Cai! Gung Hei Fat Choi! Xin Nien Kuai Lei! No matter what is the greeting, but today I am wishing all a prosperous Chinese new year (the lunar new year that is). I haven’t received any physical red packets from my Singaporean officemates here though I have taken quite a few ones from them as souvenirs (they’re not entirely red but rather decorated colorfully). To receive a red packet or “ang pao” containing money would mean being wished good luck and fortune by the giver to you. With or without any of these red packets, I do look forward for a blessed new year filled with great fortunes both great and small after I checked out my astrological sign’s (dragon) compatibility with that of this year’s rat. But really, I don’t believe that much in such predictions and fortune telling. Still, there is that nagging feeling that I always wanted to simply take a hint and peek into the unknown future of what I’ll be getting this new year. And hey, any good news is always welcome to be heard.
More to come. I’m taking a break to rest today, as what most Singaporeans were doing for the rest of the day (with generally most department stores, supermarkets, and malls closed for the holidays so not much can be done in terms of buying groceries and personal stuffs).

Weekend Short Entries 2
- The Alchemist read through update: It’s good knowing I am now at part two of the book. Santiago has been working with the crystal merchant for almost a month. While the boy was discussing his dreams to the merchant, the older man said these lines in the book that made me think for a while: “…I was thinking about how much time I had wasted in the same place, while my friends had moved on, and either went bankrupt or did better than they had before.” Ah, that nagging notion that I could have done better with my life if I had gone over the fence away from my comfort zones.
- Approximately 9 days to go before I’ll be going back to home sweet home Philippines with my family.
- I should be posting some entries soon before I take a break for the holidays. Heck, Christmas and New Year should be spent more with the family, friends, and loved ones and not with the computer. Well, I can’t (definitely) say and write in stone that I’ll not be online during those days and surf the Internet, chat with friends and even blog. I just have to spend less anything related with the computer on these days.

I bought my own Christmas gift for myself. My new toy - the Canon EOS 400D. My first DSLR camera. The picture above is one of my test shots from the camera (a Christmas decoration with figs and hollies). I’ll be experimenting with posting larger pictures in this blog.

Start Of Short Journal Liners
I forgot how it’s wonderful to simply say things in brief sentences as I did in my old blogs before. After I stumbled upon poetess’ blog entry, I wanted to do the same thing of posting short entries (ala Twitter messages). I’ll be taking this short break from posting pictures and concentrate on writing.
- I’m posting this because I can’t sleep an hour ago. Might as well blog until my body tires and fall asleep later on.
- I’ve been rereading again my old Paulo Coelho’s The Alchemist novel after years in my possession of which only a minimum of 5 pages were read after purchase. Now I promised to finish the book before this year ends.
- I’ll be having my longest and sweetest vacation when I go back to the Philippines this December. I can’t wait.
- I know I’m addicted to coffee - ice coffee that is. I can’t resist the call of ice coffee especially when I pass by Starbucks nearby. It’s like viagra for my brain - staying alert and nimble while deep at work.
- I always have this nagging feeling that I’m meant to do something better, something more than my current life, more than working in the office cubicle (ala Hiro Nakamura’s). I like to travel, but boy, time traveling will be one great power I’d like to have.
